We get a few advertising requests every now and then, so we’ve been searching for a nice little feature that could help you guys get some space on our blog without really overwhelming the site with ugly advertisements. So we have implemented Scratchback, a unique widget that works more as a tip jar than an advertising panel, but with the same benefits as advertising.

Here’s how it works:

Scroll down on the left menu till you see the widget that asks “Are You in My Top Spots?”

If you’d like to have your link on the Lunartics Blog, simply click on the Spot you’d like, write up your text link and description, and you can post your text link instantly.

And what’s the cost, you ask? Five buckaroos! Yep, only $5 per link! I bolded that because I think it’s uber cheap.

Your ads will stay on the Lunartics Blog for 24 hours after we approve it, and once that 24 hours is up, the Top Spot will again become available for purchase. So if you want to keep your link there, you can put another $5 in our tip jar or tip $5 to get your friend’s website up there! Because offering Unlimited Add-Ons and 1500 GB storage space just isn’t enough, Lunarpages has two more incredible announcements to tell you about!

1) SSH/Shell Access available!!

Omg, this is big news, guys. SSH access to our Basic and Business shared servers has always been a major concern of ours, as we don’t want to put customers who don’t need it on servers with those who do. So, to keep everybody secure, you can now pay an additional $2/mo to be placed on a SSH Shared Server! So if you need root access for your website, just let us know and we can move you to one of these special servers. And if you don’t need SSH access, don’t fear – your account will remain untouched and you will not be placed on a server that allows it.

2) Apache 2 Available

Yep, more amazing news. If you want Apache 2, just add it to your web hosting purchase at no additional charge! And if you’re an existing customer who would like Apache 2, let us know and we’ll move you to an Apache 2 server for free. That way, everybody who doesn’t need it can remain where they are, but if you can’t live without Apache 2, you can move without hassle.

That’s pretty much the rule of thumb here at Lunarpages – give the customer exactly what they need and maintain as much convenience as possible.

There have been several little things to share going on here at Lunarpages, so let me see if I can sum things up:

Lunarpages February newsletter is out! There are tons of goodies in store for you too. You can browse though the links here or just visit web-hosting-newsletter.com for February’s issue and any past issues you would like to browse though.

Need a layout or design? Time to rejoice! Lunarpages now has an awesome designer’s directory.

In other news, Lunarpages has also started delivering Basic and Business plan customers unlimited addon domains. This is a feature that should come with all new orders and older customers will be upgraded to the new limit over the next several weeks. This is a feature you wanted, so we delivered.

The Lunarforums Site of the Month voting is underway. Be sure to vote, and check back on March 1st as I’ll come in on my day off to announce the winner. Really excited about the line up this month, and I am really looking forward for this to be a returning contest month after month!

We are in the middle of bringing back an old favorite that many seemed to enjoy the Web Site of the Month. The Web site of the month forum is back open and running over at Lunarforums.com and now all we need is your vote. Here are the stipulations and rules:

1. You can submit your entries in for the web site of the month to me, via a PM here on the forums.
2. The web site in question must be hosted here at Lunarpages, either as a primary, subdomain or addon domain.
3. The final week of the month, I will put up a poll where you can vote out of 5 randomly drawn submissions.
4. Whoever has the most votes at the end of that week, will be our winner for that month!

Remember, if you submit one month - and don’t win, you can submit again the next month! Also, once you have won you won’t be able to re-submit yourself so you can win again. We want to have as many winners as we can!

Winners will get a special badge to display on their site, the honor of being our choice for a month and also a mention in our Lunarpages Newsletter.
