I have shown you in the past how to promote yourself with a twitter search widget, but now I have found another solution to get the same task done. If you are a user of HootSuite, you can now create embeddable columns that you can then take from your HootSuite account and embed via your own web site.
This tutorial from their web site explains the basics on how to get it done:
I have given thought to creating a Twitter landing page here on the Lunartics blog, so (as an example) this would be a great way to feature content from @lunarpages, or show who’s talking about Lunarpages, or… well, the possibilities are really endless.

Looking for something to add to your web site to add a little more interactivity? How about the Twitter search widget? This is a service I just found out about, and I do have to say it makes for an interesting web site highlight.
All you have to do is go to the Twitter Search Widget page, then customize the type of widget you would like to create. Here is an example of the Lunarpages search widget I just created:
You can even use advanced Twitter search operators too, to make your results even more customized. Give this tool a shot, and give the Twitter-ers out there something to browse through.

Here are a few more WebhostingDay photos to add to Dimitar’s WebhostingDay 2009 coverage. I took dozens, but I didn’t want to bore everyone to tears by posting a huge amount in one post. Here are a few that seemed to capture the main spirit of the event. One thing is certain: hosting professionals […]

A phrase you might often hear tossed about in web design is “above the fold”. Now what does it mean? To find out the answer, you have to go back and look at those ancient documents or grandparents used to share information before the time of the Internet. Yes, I am speaking of newspapers.
In Newspapers
Now picture a newspaper in your head. When you purchase one, or unroll the one delivered to your door, it is folded in half. The top half is what you see first – so it is important real estate for big headlines, photos and advertisements.
In Web Site Design
In the web design world, the term has been extended to refer to the portion of a web page you can see without having to scroll down. This is also sometimes referred to as “above the scroll”.
So what can you learn from this?
It is a key reminder to keep your most important content on a web site front and center, so it is seen first when a visitor comes to your web site. However, with that said, you should also not try to squeeze all of your content above the fold either.

Want to put a watermark on your images, but have no idea on how to get started? WatermarkTool.com is an online tool that will do it for you. It is an online watermarking script that allows you to quickly and easily protect your images and photographs with a visible watermark. There are several ways you can customize your watermark too. You can change the position, color, text size and more.
For those of you who might be new to watermarks, they are visible marks that are placed on top of an existing image. They are often used to try to keep other people from taking the image without giving the proper credit or due.
Here is an example:

So add this tool to your web development toolbelt. WatermarkTool.com makes watermarking a few images in your collection an nearly brain dead process.

Most web hosts (I mean shared ones) are… well stupid. They claim to offer 2 things you never need. One is 99.9% uptime, another - “750 GB disc space and 7500 GB bandwidth” (well they mean “data transfer” but say bandwidth… no one is perfect). Why do I say 99.9% is not important? Because if […]

It is new, I don’t know how new, but I’ve seen it a few days ago. I’m talking about Googles decision to display “News results for…”, a news titiles related to search terms web surfers type in the G’s search bar. These go almost on top of first page with results (SERP). The system of the […]
